Mayhem v2 for the Flipper: ESP32CAM+SD+NRF+CC
Mayhem v2 for the Flipper: ESP32CAM+SD+NRF+CC
Evolution takes different paths. The first generation of Mayhem for Flipper Zero, which remains an excellent choice, showcased a clever and compact form factor with dual headers, enabling the camera to be flipped. Additionally integrated ALMOST-everything in one board, including a small section for sensors: This was good for prototyping, but on the field, many users would prefer to have more functionality on-board.
Mayhem v2 is the solution: ESP32, BLE, Camera, Flashlight, Micro-SD plus an extra module depending on the side connected to your flipper: NRF24l01 (sniffing and mousejacking) or CC1101 (external radio).

Truly ALL in 1
No more module confusion, it already includes everything.
Mayhem, not to be confused with Portapack Mayhem, but from the same family, represents the idea to provide a colaborative environment where people contribute with the development of the board.
- The Marauder firmware, which is a portable penetration testing tool created for WiFi and Bluetooth analysis. The firmware also includes Micro-SD functionality, allowing you to dump pcap files
- Camera (2MP jpeg) and flashlight, accessed through the ESP32CAM Marauder app
- Gameboy-camera style (low res 128x64 bmp) with preview on the Flipper Zero
- Evil portal (fake captive portal)
- Nanny cam (remote WiFi AP access to the camera stream)
- Morse flasher (use the flashlight to transmit morse)
- QR code reader
- Motion detection
- External radio
- NRF24 for sniffing and mousejacking
Editions
You can make your own or support the project buying a kit or assembled unit. This helps to make more apps and extend the functionality of the board.
If you ordered an assembled one (like Essentials or Deluxe Ultimate), you just need to prepare your Flipper Zero, simply follow https://flipper.ried.cl/webinstaller ignoring the firmware upload part (you can do this too, to update the firmware in the future).
In case you ordered the El Cheapo (KIT) you need to assemble it first. Check the documentation in the link in the bottom.
If you have extra PCBs or you are making your own, you will need to buy your own components:
- ESP32 (bluetooth and WiFi) with 2MP OV2640 Camera Module, 8MB PSRAM, Micro-SD slot, external antenna connector and flashlight LED (module) (alternative: OV2640 21MM 120°) (header)
-
Extra modules (header):
-
NRF24l01 (module) (alternative: w/SMA antenna) (alternative: w/IPX antenna interface)
-
CC1101 (w/coil antenna) (alternative: w/SMA antenna)
-
-
Extra pins for connecting sensors and prototyping: any 3 pin sensor, 3V or 5V with any pin order can be connected easily
-
Sleek & flip-able PCB module for your Flipper Zero (header (reverse)) (capacitor)
-
Other parts:
- TPU printed pin header protector (check parts for the
.stl
file) (tpu filament) - PLA printed camera and back protectors (check parts for the
.stl
file) (pla filament) - Custom Micro-SD (tested to perform perfectly on the Flipper Zero and ESP32)
- TPU printed pin header protector (check parts for the
More functionality
Join in on the fun and contribute to the development. You could add new functionality, such as:
- Actions based on camera detection (i.e. turn on a TV via IR when some face is detected, open the garage door if a number plate appears, etc)
- Barcode reader
- Record videos
- Operate the SD card from the Flipper
- Print photos from the camera to a thermal/photo printer, using IR (Flipper) or BLE (ESP32)
- Send your suggestion (or just hack the code yourself)
